Keven Wood Premieres at Motor Mile in the Grand Home Furnishings Stock Car
Harrisburg, NC (April 8, 2008)- Keven Wood had long anticipated getting back into a Late Model Series Stock Car since his last race in October of 2007. The weekend began positive with a top ten starting position, but was shortened due to a part failure on lap 37 in the rain delayed event on Sunday, April 6th. Wood first took the track in the Frank Deiny Jr. Grand Home Furnishings race car on Friday afternoon for a much needed test to get invaluable seat time and to work with his new race team and motor package. The test proved positive as he ran in the 12th position for most of the session. Wood said, "We had a good car, the weekend was looking very positive." Keven qualified eighth out of 29 cars on Saturday afternoon and planned to race that night, but the weather had different plans. As Keven sat in the race car buckled up and ready to go; the event was delayed, due to rain, until Sunday afternoon. Wood finally took the green flag on Sunday in the eighth position as he made some laps and kept the top 10 position. However, luck would take a turn as he moved up to the sixth position on lap 37. The fly wheel broke which made it a short race afternoon for the no. 20. The team would officially finish in the 27th position. Keven commented on what it felt like to get back in the race car after such a long wait. He said, "We had a good car, I just wish it would have lasted longer." He added, "It's bittersweet; I waited so long for this day, only for it to be so short. We'll be back here in two weeks, we'll get them then." The Grand Home Furnishings no. 20 and Keven Wood will return to the Motor Mile Speedway for the Hawkeye West 150 on Saturday, April 19, 2008.
