Jon Wood Back in the No. 21 Barnhill Group Ford F-150 at Bristol Motor Speedway

Harrisburg, NC (August 19, 2008)-Jon Wood will be back driving the Wood Brothers Racing Barnhill Group Ford F-150 at Bristol Motor Speedway on Wednesday night, August 20th for the O’Reilly 200.

Jon is looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of the no. 21 for his first start on the half-mile oval in the Nascar Craftsman Truck Series since 2004. He commented on going back to the super fast speedway, “I’m really excited about getting back to Bristol, it’s been a long time since I’ve been there in a truck. I’ve raced there in the Nationwide Series since 2005 and I’ve had some good runs. I’ve also had some incidents that are typical of short track racing, but I’m looking forward to racing on the new surface. It should be a lot of fun.”

Crew Chief John Monsam has had some history at the track with Wood Brothers Racing when they began racing there in the Nascar Craftsman Truck Series in 2006. In 2007, driver Mark Martin started 10th in the no. 21 and finished third. Monsam decided to bring the very same truck chassis back that ran so well at that race. He said, “It’s extremely important to bring a good truck for Jon. We have a great truck and it’s been the most successful truck in our fleet since the day it was built. I look forward to not only running it at Bristol, but some of the other tracks until the end of the season.

The history of this truck makes it special and you always have one favorite. This one has been my favorite from the beginning. We ran this truck multiple times last year, Phoenix, and Homestead; two races where Jon ran with great success. It ran every race that Mark Martin drove last year with great results. It’s just a good truck. It’s been good right out of the gate. I look forward to seeing what we can do in Bristol.”
