Past Champion Bill Elliott qualified the #21 Motorcraft Ford Fusion 
today at Texas Motor Speedway with a lap time of 28.877 seconds – a pick-up of over four tenths of a second from practice. The car’s performance isn’t what the team had hoped as it continues to try new setups in preparation for the 2010 season. As team co-owner Eddie Wood noted, “We can’t get better if we don’t try new things.”
With two practices scheduled for tomorrow, David Hyder and the #21 crew will work hard to improve the car’s performance.
Jeff Gordon earned the pole.
